Challenge
While OpenAQ had an operational website, it struggled to effectively communicate its message to the intended audience. The site was lacking in comprehensive content and appeared visually outdated. The challenge was to create a communication strategy that would invite individuals to engage with the project while also promoting its goals and initiatives.
Solution
A design evaluation was performed on the existing website, complemented by an analysis of user data from the most frequently accessed pages. To boost community participation, significant focus was placed on the “Get Involved” call-to-action, emphasizing the importance of community engagement. The visual design was developed around the brand’s primary color, blue, fostering a clean and simple aesthetic that reflects the theme of air purification.
Result
The redesign of the air quality engagement website produced a vibrant and user-centric platform that clearly conveys the mission and encourages community involvement in initiatives aimed at improving air quality.
The updated visual language features a contemporary, fresh look, employing soothing blue tones that evoke a sense of cleanliness and freshness, aligning with the air purification theme.
Moreover, well-organized sections detailing air quality data, community resources, and actionable steps for user engagement were clearly presented, making it easier for visitors to comprehend the impact of their participation.
